Long overdue entry

This entry is long overdue,  I was just unsure of how to go about explaining this situation.  If  you have not heard, on May 2 about 3:30 in the afternoon we had a horrible hail storm.  Nothing can prepare you for the amount of devastation that mother nature can throw at you in just 10 minutes.  It is now mid June as I write this and we are still feeling the effects of that storm.  Our Strawberry crop was about a 100% loss, our blueberry crop was about a 90% loss, and we lost 1 entire planting of summer vegetables.  We are recovering now though, as we are beginning to pick some really nice summer vegetables, and for some reason the storm did not seem to due much damage to the blackberry crop.  They seem to be on track for a good season.  I think the ultimate insult was that after spending many nights during the Easter freeze protecting our crops,  this happens and wipes out an entire year of work.   After the storm we shifted our focus to expanding our farm market and nursery.  That seems to have been a good decision.
It has been a really tough spring for all of us on the farm, bad weather and many personal tragedies, but through it all we keep going and know that in the end we will all be stronger for it.  Nobody said farming was easy.
