Springs coming

It seems like somebody turned on the work switch!
We have gone from easy days working in the shop, to having  too much to do.  Mary has all of the greenhouses overflowing with vegetable plants and flowers.  We are planting some early cool weather crops in the field, and there is lots of pruning to do.  The blueberries get pruned in March, the strawberries need to be cleaned before they bloom, not to mention getting things ready for frost protection by late March.  Well, the list gets longer and time gets shorter, but we always get the important things done.

The cold weather in February has slowed the strawberry crop down.  The crop looks good as we hope to  be picking by the end of April , which is 2 weeks later than the previous few years.  That seems to put us back into a normal strawberry season window.

The new blueberry field doesn’t look to be ready for production this year, so we will be continuing to pick from our old patch, its to early to tell about this years production so more on that later.

Blackberries fared well and our new field should be producing this spring.

Field conditions for tillage vary.  I can find some fields that should be ready for work by the coming week.  Fertilizer and lime need to be spread.
